Dan Limon began his career in wrestling in 1978 at the age of five and enjoyed success at Plano Middle School,

qualifying for the IKWF Finals in 1986 and again in 1987 when he placed fifth at 135. He also qualified for the

USA Kids Wrestling Junior Olympics in Rochester, Minnesota in 1987 and took second place in Greco-Roman

and fifth in Freestyle.

At Plano High School, he was a four-time IHSA qualifier, three-time medalist and two-time IHSA champion

competing for coach Joe Cliffe, a 2003 IWCOA Lifetime Service Recipient. He went 43-0 and took first place in

his senior season of 1990-1991 after going 41-0-1 as a junior and finishing first at 140. As a sophomore, he went

35-7 and placed fourth at 140 and as a freshman, he went 27-12-2. From 1989 to 1991, Dan received multiple

honors from the IWCOA, including All-State recognition, Scholastic Wrestler of the Year Nominee and

Outstanding Wrestler of the Year Nominee. In 2010, Dan was inducted into the Plano’s Hall of Fame.

Following his competitive career, Dan dedicated himself to developing young athletes as an assistant coach at

Sandwich Middle School from 2011 to 2023. During his tenure, the program achieved 40 IESA state qualifiers,

11 state medalists and two state champions. The team also took fourth place in the IESA State Tournament in

2022.

Outside of wrestling, Dan pursued a successful professional career as a moldmaker/injection molding in the plastic industry from 1991 to 2009. In 2009, Dan founded LHR Technical Service, specializing in hot runner sales andservice and representing a German company. Owning his own business provided the flexibility that allowed him to reconnect with wrestling, spending countless hours mat-side with hundreds of athletes, including his son duringmiddle school and again during his senior year of high school, as well as alongside both of his daughters as middle school and high school stat girls.

Dan married his high school sweetheart, Sarah (Brooks) Limon, in 1994. Together they raised three children,

Riley, Dylan, and Hannah, who share their family’s love of wrestling. Dan credits his wife, children, daughterin-

law Taylor, and Riley’s partner, Colton Otto, for the inspiration to be a better man beyond the sport of

wrestling. He is truly living a life well-lived.
